Andrea joined the Complexity Science Hub as part of the Human Migration research team and is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Vienna. In parallel, he is affiliated with the Migration group of the Population and Just Societies Program at IIASA. Andrea's work focuses on advancing the understanding of global migration dynamics and informing policy through quantitative and interdisciplinary approaches.

In the context of their research, Andrea is particularly interested in several interconnected strands:

  • International flows of remittances and their response to disasters in origin countries
  • The effects of international aid cuts on receiving countries, with a focus on socio-economic stability and how the cuts could be compensated by remittances or debt forgiveness
  • Quantifying habitability on a global scale and examining how environmental and socio-economic conditions influence migration intentions
  • The mental health of migrants in Austria, with an emphasis on the challenges associated with integration and well-being
