Core facilities
The University of Vienna understands a "Core Facility" (CF) as a network of research infrastructures that are used cooperatively by several scientists. In addition, there is the potential to offer the use of the infrastructures as services (for third parties) beyond research cooperations. The goal is cooperative use of equipment both within the university and across institutional boundaries.
At the Institute of Geography and Regional Research, the two Core Facilities - eSurfLab (WG Glade) and LTWER Wetlands (WG Glatzel) - have been established. Both units are established in science-based physio-geography and study our environment - eSurfLab focuses here on gravitational mass movements on slopes, LTWER Wetlands focuses on peatlands and wetlands.
