Studying Spatial Research and Spatial Planning
The working group teaches courses and supervises theses in Geography curricula. A special focus lies on teaching in the master’s programme of Spatial Research and Spatial Planning (Raumforschung und Raumordnung). The working group is also active in the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in "Urban Studies" (4CITIES) – a unique interdisciplinary and international master programme, implemented in cooperation with universities in Brussels (ULB, VLB), Copenhagen (KU) and Madrid (UCM, UAM) and various partner universities across Europe.
Graduates of the master’s programme in Spatial Research and Spatial Planning have comprehensive knowledge of content, organisation and practice of spatial planning in Austria and Europe. They are familiar with the instruments of spatial planning and their implications, and have empirical and theoretical knowledge of societal and socio-spatial development trends (including gender-critical perspectives). Furthermore, they are able to confidently apply quantitative and qualitative methods of empirical regional research (including cartography).
