Biography
Since July 2025, I have been part of the working group on spatial research and spatial planning. In my doctoral research, I am exploring the shift in spatial planning processes in the Information Age. In particular, I am concerned with the role that information and communication technology (ICT) plays in multi-level governance. My research interests lie in the policy domain of 'no net land take' and the role the regional scale plays in achieving sustainable spatial transformations.
Before joining the working group, I worked at the Technical University of Dortmund in the spatial planning and planning theory group, headed by Prof. Dr. Wiechmann. In addition to teaching in the 'Spatial Planning' (M.Sc./B.Sc.) degree program, I coordinated the third-party funded research program NEILA. The project addressed sustainable land use management through an interdisciplinary approach, focusing on the role of inter-municipal cooperation and informal spatial planning instruments at the regional level.
I studied Urban Environmental Management (M.Sc.) and Economics and Governance (B.Sc.) at Wageningen University in the Netherlands. During my studies, I specialized in environmental policy from a multi-level governance perspective. For example, I analysed European green infrastructure policy with respect to questions of spatial and procedural justice and examined urban initiatives that developed local currencies.
