Biography

I hold a Master's degree in Education with a major in English and Geography from the University of Vienna and a second Master's degree in Human Geography with a specialisation in Conflict, Territory and Identity from the Radboud University in Nijmegen. During my Master's in Human Geography, I focused mainly on human-environment relations. I wrote my thesis on climate activism in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, while on a fellowship at the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr in Erbil.

Currently, my PhD research, as part of the transdisciplinary CuHeMo project, examines the impact of climate change on the cultural heritage and adaptation strategies of agro-pastoralist communities in Ethiopia's South Omo Valley. In particular, I study the gendered dimensions of indigenous knowledge systems, analysing how these systems influence the climate resilience of women. For this research, I will employ a multi-methods approach, including ethnographic and participatory action research.
