Carbon Cycling and peatland degradation of Alpine Peatbogs in the Enns Valley, Austria

The working group geoecology investigates the carbon budget and peatland degradation. By means of closed chamber measurements the release and storage of carbon at different plant communities is analyzed. Indicators of peatland degradation and the associated gas release are compared.

The research is carried out in collaboration with the Peatland Protecting Association and supported by the Department of Conservation of the Province of Styria.
